Import your del.icio.us bookmarks into your other favorite browser… Safari!

If you don’t have a Mac yet, I suggest that you, on a lark, go down to your local Apple Store and play around for a little bit. I promise you that you’ll want to take one home.

Also, if you missed today’s episode of The Screen Savers, you missed out! Catch it tomorrow when it re-airs. It was a great show (especially if you’re a Star Trek fan like me). Oh, and if you didn’t like the part when we sent ‘Ensign Wright’ on that ‘away mission’, you can blame that on me… it was my idea. I still think it was funny and Adam’s scream was perfect. If it didn’t make you smile, you couldn’t possibly be a true Star Trek fan.

More of my best-kept secrets (until now, that is). I hope you get some use out of these!

I’m sure you’ve at least seen a few of these. Here’s my favorite places to get the latest:

Cory Doctorow’s Boing Boing – Always good stuff here. Most of the posts are Cory’s, but there are several other contributors there, too. This is usually my first stop and I continue to hit this one throughout the day to stay on top of things.

The Eyebeam ReBlog – Basically a blog of blog posts (aren’t all blogs a blog of blog posts?). In any event, these are hand-picked from the very long list of feeds on the left side of the page. Always high quality stuff here. You might find some goodies in that list, too!

Del.icio.us – If you don’t know what I’m talking about here, you’ll have to scroll down and read my long post.

Fark.com – If you haven’t seen this one, you’ve gotta fire up that browser more often.

Engadget and Gizmodo – A double dose of the latest gadgets. Everyone seems to have a favorite between these two. I say, “Why choose when you can have both?”

Hot Deals Club – A no-frills site that I check often to make sure I don’t miss out on the bargain of a lifetime.

Coudal Partners – So I don’t lose touch with my artistic side, I check out the Fresh Signals in the middle column. Even though it’s a design site, the Fresh Signals links are pretty diverse. Lots of posts every day.

If I add anything to this list, you’ll be the first one to know. I’m not one to keep secrets.

EDIT:
Darn… I forgot Slashdot. Doesn’t Slashdot go without saying, anyway?

This is going to be a long post. But I promise you, if you’re a web addict, this is going to change the way you use the web for a long, long time. [...]

Win XP vs. OS X Shootout!

September 21, 2004

Okay, before the flame war starts, these aren’t my findings. And I can already hear the Windows users groaning now because they KNOW that OS X beat Windows in this test without even looking at the results page.
But someone has spent a lot of time putting together a comprehensive comparison of Windows XP Home, Windows [...]

PONGMECHANIK

September 20, 2004

Mechanized Pong… which doesn’t make much sense until you see the video, which is in German with English subtitles.
What will those wacky Germans think of next? World domination, Levi’s, a car for the people?
I’m also wondering how long this thing will run before the cigarette lighter and cup holder break and the electric windows no [...]

Turn Old Hard Drives into Speakers

September 19, 2004

This is impressive. If ever there were a computer mod that could possibly win you the admiration of anyone who enters your home, this is the one. I’m looking through my boxes of old computer parts so I can try to pull this off. Looks like a trip to Radio Shack is in my future…

You CAN Recycle Spam

September 17, 2004

There’s a little bit of genius hiding in your inbox. Take a look at the subject lines of your spam mail. I’ve always thought that those subject lines look like they should be on a t-shirt. And now, thanks to the internet, I found somebody else who thought the same thing.
Turn spam prose into a [...]

Never Pay Full Price on eBay Again!

September 15, 2004

What if I told you that bad spellers can save you a fortune on eBay?
A spelling error in a listing can kill an auction before it even starts. However, if you’re smart enough to look for those items that aren’t spelled right, you can find auctions that no one will ever bid on AND if [...]

I Like Ellipses. (Also, Parentheses). Commas Too…

September 14, 2004

Dave Barry’s writing has affected my writing style in ways that I’ll never truly be able to appreciate. His writing is laugh out loud funny. If you’ve heard of him, then you’ll know what I’m talking about. Unfortunately, I can’t be nearly as funny as Dave.
Dave’s Blog (I visit daily) is always updated with silly [...]

I Need This Thing Too!

September 13, 2004

If you saw The Screen Savers on Friday, then you saw Yoshi’s super-cool Bluetooth phone handset. Along those lines, here’s Pokia, which creates one-of-a-kind retro handsets for your phone. So very, very cool. Better start saving…
Or, save some money and make one that fits your personality. Buy an old phone and a Bluetooth headset and [...]
